CELEBRATING 21 YEARS OF GIVING BACK ACCESS TO HEALTH IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY'S WELL-BEING The Dis-Chem Foundation has been improving community well-being by providing accessible and affordable primary healthcare through community and mobile clinics, reaching over 250,000 people. We aim to continue making healthcare more accessible, ensuring a healthier future for all. Emergency medical response is provided in Cape Town through Community Medics and in Johannesburg through Hatzolah with the continued support of The Dis-Chem Foundation. In the last year alone Operation Healing Hands has performed life-changing surgeries and attended to over 200 patients. COMMUNITY NUTRITION FEEDING FOR THE GREATER GOOD South Africa faces a deepening malnutrition crisis, with more than 60% of households suffering some level of food insecurity and more than 40% unable to afford nutritious items. The Dis-Chem Foundation has cultivated over 30 food gardens nationally while teaching the community valuable farming and sustainability skills. HYDROPONIC GARDENS South Africa is experiencing "the triple burden of malnutrition" where households are struggling with undernutrition, hidden hunger, and obesity due to inadequate diets. The Dis-Chem Foundation is excited to announce the launch of its Hydroponic Gardens. With 138 towers, the gardens produce 4 000 crops in under six weeks. The carefully selected produce is designed to provide a person's daily nutritional requirements to efficiently cater to the needs of the communities. Malnutrition and undernutrition in early childhood development can lead to stunted growth, SUPPORT with every SWIPE impaired mental potential and sometimes even death. In response to the enormity of this problem in South Africa, the Dis-Chem Foundation provides 3.6 million full nutrition porridge meals per year to our future generation, helping children go to bed on a full stomach while combatting malnutrition.
