CONTENTS REGULARS BENEFITS | 21 SUCH LOVING CARE The Dis-Chem Foundation and KFM visited Woodside Special Care Centre for the profoundly intellectually and physically disabled in Rondebosch. The environment is so incredibly warm and happy despite the disabilities faced by the residents and the financial challenges the centre deals with. The residents were so excited to have us visit them and the wonderful caregivers, who are aware at every moment of the needs and sensitivities of those they care for daily, spontaneously broke into song and wheelchair dancing to the delight of everyone present. Already a beneficiary of the Foundation, their monthly donation has been doubled to help meet their growing needs. GETTING OFF TO A GREAT START The Million Comforts Caring4Girls initiative, which has been running since 2015, is committed to the empowerment of schoolgirls, raising awareness about women’s health, and giving these girls the opportunity to continue their education without the burden of hygiene risks, discomfort, embarrassment, or the loss of dignity. The campaign embarked on its 7th consecutive year continuing to grow from strength to strength, allowing The Dis-Chem Foundation with Caring4Girls to have a larger distribution outreach nationwide of sanitary pads to girls in less fortunate communities. Store activations were held countrywide and included guest speakers who endorsed the campaign and its importance to schoolgirls. Bins filling up at Benmore.
